Carol Anne Hinz 1955-2017

Carol was born in Saskatoon to Norman and Amelia Hnatuk. She attended Montgomery School and Mount Royal Collegiate. She received her B. ED. from the U of S, and taught elementary school in Humboldt, Eatonia and Saskatoon. Carol met her husband of 39 years while attending university, and they were married in 1977. Ronn's work took them to many cities in Canada and the United States. They always returned to Saskatoon and finally settled in Montgomery Place.

Carol was an avid gardener and soon transformed their yard into an oasis of colour. She was particularly fond of geraniums, and wintered many varieties passed down from her mom. She was also "hooked on hostas" and would always make the rounds of all the gardening centres on the first day they opened to scout out all the new varieties. Of course, there would always be one or two that she just had to have!

Carol was an active member of the Saskatchewan Perennial Society for many years and served on the board of directors in 1998. She often invited her friends in the Perennial Society for tea and had plant exchange parties. The results of those events can still be seen in many beautiful backyards in Montgomery.
