Frank Leith Skinner 1882-1967
Dr. Frank Skinner has been recognized internationally for his contributions to the diversity of landscape plants that are adapted to the harsh prairie climate.
Through his travels and correspondence with plant specialists in northern Europe, Asia and North America, he collected, hybridized and introduced over 248 trees, shrubs, perennials and bulbs.
Many of the original species can be seen at the Skinner Arboretum, site of the family homestead and nursery near Dropmore, Manitoba.
